Hoover Arts Alliance |
|
Hoover, Alabama |
|
The Hoover Arts Alliance was established in March of 2007 when Hoover residents Linda Chastain and Barbara Lyons approached the Mayor with a plan to publicize all of the wonderful events, venues, and artists here in the City of Hoover. The Mayor and City Council have been very supportive of this plan. All of the various art associations and groups are represented on the Alliance board of directors and are pleased to make more information about their work and schedules available to the public.
The Alliance plans to make a brochure available to residents and tourists to the area listing artists and their media, locations, art events throughout the year, and merchants who sell local artists' work. Events such as our Winter Fair 'Hoover Where the Art Is' will bring together the community and local artists in a day of fun and learning. This event is planned for the end of February. For details see our events page.
The Alliance is providing awards for juried art shows in Hoover and has facilitated the establishment of the Signature Homes Art Scholarship program for high school art students.
If you are interested in promoting the Arts please fill out our membership application and join us. You will not be sorry you did.

Member Appreciation Event Thanks to all of you who made our Member Appreciation event such a success. The artists who participated had wonderful displays of their work. Many of the craft items were unusual and were a hit with visitors to the event. As always Linda Williams and her staff had the Community School dressed in its best for the holidays. The auditorium was a winter wonderland with Christmas Trees and Christmas wreaths. The delicious food added a special touch and provided us a chance to "munch" and visit.
The arts and crafts were well received and some of the newer crafts such as Chris Simonton's decorative boxes were a Wow! Jewelry, knitted items, paintings, holiday wreaths, decorative boxes, handmade pipes and pens, stationary and note cards, and carvings were some of the works displayed. Original music was provided by Steven Lamfere and Valerie Paulin. They are a handsome young couple with lovely voices and we appreciate them sharing their talent with our members.
Thanks to Lori Salter, representing the Mayor's office and to Representative Paul DeMarco for visiting with us. Their support for the arts is very much appreciated.
Keep watching for other events to come. |
